Flowers upon the arid abandon
Premiered by Harriet Cohen
Flowers upon the arid abandon is a vibrant soundscape for viola and fixed media, which explores the beautifully diverse sounds of the wild Sonoran Desert, from the dry wispy sands to the cackling coyotes to the fierce monsoon storms to the lively bird chirps to the buzzes of bumbling bees. The Sonoran Desert is the most biologically diverse desert in the world, and with it comes a truly remarkable and unique soundscape of all sorts of creatures, insects, and flora, spread across the wide, arid abandon.
